Home Recording Mini Clinic in May!

On May 15th at 4pm I will hold a home recording mini clinic. Why mini? Cause my studio is not very big. We will look at; some ways to make a regular bedroom/house recording friendly, some microphone techniques, mixing, editing, and other stuff.  $20,- will get you in, but like I said I have limited space, so if you wish to participate contact me as soon as you can. Bring any questions and we will see if we can find a solution!

Cheers!

New drums in the studio!!

Thanks to Ted of Teddy’s Records for making it possible to finally bring in a drum kit for the studio. It’s a Pearl Vision Birch five piece kit – 10″, 12″, 16″, 22″ – in Ruby Fade (beautiful) I’m hoping to beat the crap out of the pearl heads and get some new evans. I’ve just set it up and it sounds great! I will be using it for the next Rupert Rocks session this weekend.  I’ll post some pics soon!!

"The Making Of" Documentary

Aaron Viktil is not only a songwriter on the Rupert Rocks album but also has taken the challenge of capturing the process of making this compilation disc on video with the help of Kelly Gerrie and Phil Cornwall. So far it has been great fun! Cheers!

Mariner's Music Festival

On July 29th 2010 Kate Lines from Garden Records and Tom Lehar from Summit Sound Lounge have gathered resources and put on the first annual Mariner’s Music Festival in Prince Rupert. It started at 4 pm with a performance by Glenn, Jared and Katie followed by Joshua Comeau, Tom and Kate with Peter Jackson and Christina Soto, Kimberly Truong with Brian Miller, Joe Marvici, Ronnie Ray Jenkins, Frances and Sarah, Sall Gibson, Patty and Jewel of the Mermaid Cafe, and Jim Demings closed the night at 9 pm. It was a great start for the festival showcasing Prince Rupert’s musicians and songwriters and the support from the community was greatly appreciated.

Rupert Rocks CD?

Hello everyone,

There has been talk about another compilation disc showcasing rock bands of Prince Rupert. I think it’s a fantastic idea! We have learned a lot from the Rupert Songs album and soon the expenses of that album will be paid off. That means that funds will find their way to the musicians and artists. All we have to do is keep promoting the album – not only in Rupert!

There is a lot of great talent in town, so let’s let everyone know!

If you would like to have a song on the Rupert Rocks album contact us (tomlehar@summitsoundlounge.com , or kate@gardenrecords.ca).

Cheers!
